SHARP AND FLAT
Whether attached to your computer or replacing your portable stereo's headphones, Benwin's skinny BW2000 speakers deliver surprisingly big, rich sound. A mere eighth-of-an-inch thick and five by seven inches across, the BW2000s take advantage of cutting-edge flat-panel technology: instead of moving air to create sound, a tiny transducer mounted on the back causes the entire panel to vibrate. The vibrations produce a 360-degree field of sound-a distinct advantage over conventional speakers, which cover a more limited area. These tiny speakers come in black or ivory, complete with subwoofer, for an appropriately small price: $130 (now $99).
