How do flat panel speakers work?
Conventional speakers create sound by causing cone-shaped
speakers to move in and out in a high-speed piston-like motion. Benwin speakers use an
exciter disk mathematically positioned on the back of a flat surface. This exciter sends
an electrical current through the flat panel, causing a complex series of vibrations in
all planes over the entire panel. The Benwin speaker system includes a compact powered sub-woofer unit,
which also incorporates the volume, tone and power controls and a headphone jack, to
increase the definition of the bass sounds.
Why are flat panel speakers an improvement over conventional speakers?
Conventional cone-type speakers have "hot spots",
usually directly in front of the speaker, where the sound is louder. Flat panel speakers
distribute the sound evenly in a 360-degree radius.
Why do reviewers call flat panel speakers "an interior designers dream?"
You can set them on any surface or hang them wherever you
choose. Their sleek design works well in any modern interior, while their small size and
neutral color provides an elegant contrast in traditional settings. |
